Words of the Day #359

Nonanemoneity: the quality of being unlike an anemone. Say it with a flourish.
Stemory: An idea or thing that makes you remember something (such as the smell of vanilla reminding you of the kitchen when you were four, or a movie ticket reminding you of an incident at the theater)
Somniscient: In a state of mind that follows dream logic, especially after waking or just before falling asleep. One might refuse to wake up for school, claiming that the streets are filled with bunnies and so the commute is impossible.
Idiogram: A word that nobody knows how to use properly, like “irony”.

A good night with friends, which forced me to invent words. One more day left in Berkeley. I’m looking forward to Santa Cruz, but sad to go nonetheless.

  1. Xacious – Archaic. A modified version of the suffix “-tious” but used stand alone. Used as a synonym for “extremely”, “very” or (slang) “indeed”. However, with few written examples, it’s use could be debated.
Penchansity – The inclination to have an inclination for something.
Sanctimorphic – Characterized by a change in purity, either in physical form, chemical or genetic makeup or even spiritually.
I hope you have fun as Santa Cruz!
