While I had the camera on him, Myles scratched his nose, then asked if I’d captured him in that awkward stance. I hadn’t – I was waiting for a good shot – but when he repeated the motion, exaggerated for effect, it brought smiles to both Emily and Tristan’s faces. It was almost as if Myles had given up all photogenic capacity so that his friends could have more.

I am very tired tonight, and my eyes are nearly stuck shut like a cat’s.

Alina sat beside me as I took this photo, and I’m sorry I couldn’t include her in it. Today was the first time I’d seen her in many months; it’s good to have her back, and to see this little group regaining some of its strength.
