Craters of the Day #1674

Through a shaky telescope, with my tiny camera, we managed to get this glimpse of our moon’s shoulder, heavily textured from its journey through space. Those are real landscapes, craters that could hold colossal lakes, and thy’ve been gliding over our heads every night for as long as we’ve existed.

It’s difficult to really feel the scale of moonscapes, but it’s wonderful when you do – the distance and weight there, the sensation of endlessly swinging in circles with the moon in a dance that spans millennia.

It’s fantastic to see friends getting so excited about something so omnipresent in our lives. We each had to wait for our turn at the eyepiece, and we were all eager to drink in the sight when we leaned in.

slightly brings me down a lot
