Juggle of the Day #1791

Cordelia is a connoisseur of picnics, so naturally she collected her friends together to celebrate her birthday. Today’s event was replete with plaid blankets, several kinds of cheese, and just a little more sweets than was necessary. We flew Cordelia’s tiny Mighty Kite (which flies as gentle as a faerie), climbed the nearby tree, tossed around a koosh ball and relaxed while a lonely rave blared just on the other side of the trees.

Cordelia’s friends are all nice people. I wish I’d had more opportunity to talk with them personally; it seemed that, for most of the picnic, the party was engaged in one collective conversation, which meant I got a cursory acquaintance with each of them without any especially involved conversation. Breadth versus depth, again.

A few picnic-goers could juggle – including Cordelia here – but just across the lawn was a man who stood for two or three hours, juggling nearly the entire time, pulling off moves that we couldn’t even follow with our eyes. Our group kept mentioning the Apple Trick, which I think involves eating apples while juggling them; perhaps that stranger could even peel and eat oranges mid-juggle.
