Shadow of the Day #1800

The moon is peeking through the sliver between my curtain and the edge of the window, and that is perfect. It’s the sort of sight to remind you, before you fall asleep, that you’re swinging through space with a trillion other souls.

I’m feeding Mom’s cats while she’s away on a trip, which means a few minutes each day to commune with the pets I never grew very close to. Cats are quiet and light-footed and independent, and spending any time with them brings a shared comfortable silence. It takes years to develop that with humans friends, but cats are made of it.

if there’s any love in me
