Spines of the Day #1811

The light was immaculate as I walked home today, dousing the trees and sidewalks in late summer warmth. It was the kind of light you could feed on, and so I did. Stopping to admire the day’s flavor, I looking from the leaves above to the garden beside me, I saw these budding flowers with their hunched-over necks, tended by honeybees, their thin white spines glowing like raw crystals.

This is the world when it’s playing in tune, bright and well-rested, being the world it wants to be.

I would drop my life
