Visit of the Day #1846

I had several classes with Maria at UCSC, but we spoke only rarely then, and briefly. She very kindly offered me her GRE study guides, and stayed for a few hours this evening after coming to drop them off. Conversation wandered from brain-machine interfaces to her experiences working with kids to comic books to intricate styles of dance, and by the time she left she had painted a portrait of her life that I could never have known from our tangential interactions in class.

This past week has been full of people, which is very much how I like things. A bit of quiet thereafter is important, of course, and tonight I am hoping to dream of castles with tall, spiraling, marble walls.
