Balance of the Day #1901

This isn’t the common tether we usually practice on, but a truly slack line, inelastic and free of tension. I can’t even sit on these lines, and when I first saw it the prospect of walking along this line seemed outrageous.

Pearce has been working at it, though, a little each day, and now he’s developed the catlike powers you see here. It’s an impressive thing to see – walking along this line would be impossible for most people.

This is the sort of thing that makes me wonder what the limit of human potential is in physical feats, and whether a thoroughly trained animal might be able to surpass us. Compared with other species, humans are often touted for their brains and not much else, but we really have made some remarkable athletic accomplishments.

Be proud of your weird bipedal body, your wiggly fingers, your strong shoulders, and see what you can do.
