Ice of the Day #2050

Laurel’s been busy for most of the day, but we took a quick break to hunt for snacks and fuel. I kept slowing our expedition to take a closer look at the plants that distinguished each strip of neighborhood: trees with deep red leaves on one street, bright red flowers on the next, golden fireworks flying from blossoms in front of someone’s home. These succulents met the sun so boldly, slicing it into stark shadows, and I had to lean in to take a photo.

We returned with a bag full of junk food, and now Laurel is working hard through the night. I’ll keep her company until sleep finally wraps its wings around me.
