Wait of the Day #2132

I’ve been helping with scan sessions only for the last few months, but this scene has long since become a part of the my weekly repertoire. Like many times before, I made the trek up to campus in the late afternoon heat, passed between the tall windows and the pensive trees, and stepped through the door into the air-conditioned atmosphere where the scanner lives. The place is all marble and metal and polished wood, and everything outside the sunbeams is cool and comfortable – a good place to sit and read a book while I wait for our study to begin.

Next week is my last with this place, and it’s likely I’ll never return. The end of anything is always a strange threshold to cross.

tomorrow I will fly
