Scape of the Day #2291

San Diego was growing a gloomy sky as we prepared to leave, a thick layer of gray rather uncharacteristic of the city. I was looking forward to the flight; flying on cloudy days means leaping into a blinding veil of white, then breaking out into sunlight completely hidden from the people below. The view from there is an endless cloudscape, fantastical cotton shapes that play with the eye in strange ways.

We’re back home now and the weather is, compared to San Diego, bitingly cold – but California’s climate never grows very sharp teeth.

It was lovely seeing Laurel’s family again. Time to rest, now.
