Moon of the Day #2339

My new lens is very particular about the things it sees: once it fixes its gaze on something, it lets the rest of the world fade away. It’s a strange thing to get used to when working with the camera; every slight motion I make shifts the focus, and pieces of the world a millimeter apart will soften and sharpen.

With the distance grass below blurred to a green void, our many-eyed dandelion head here has become a cratered moon drifting through space. Once home to an ancient civilization, its last survivors have all departed on silver wings to build new planets. The desert surface here will survive some time longer, then fade away into the cosmos, to be dissolved and forgotten and built into something new.
