Suspense of the Day #2366

Our new friend Seth invited us to bowl this morning. I hadn’t been to the alley in years, but it had that same familiar aesthetic as always: arcade games, vending machines full of candy and toys, thin patterned carpeting, the scent of bowling-ball-oil, the melodious clatter of scattering pins. It’s not a sport I’ll ever master, but it feels very American in that optimistic old-timey sort of way, so it’s fun to give it a try now and again.

Seth has a better grasp of the game than Pearce or Anton or myself, and after sending the ball on its way he would often crouch in this slightly Spider-Man fashion, waiting for the truth to come out at the moment of impact.

We played two games, and then still had the entire day ahead of us. Getting things started early in the morning makes everything else feel like bonus time.
