Halo of the Day #2447

Laurel and I work about a mile apart – just close enough that we can meet for lunch in the middle, like sneaking out from opposing camps for a secret rendezvous. I took a seat facing the window, leaving Laurel to take the bench facing the restaurant, and midday light streamed in over her shoulders. Her face was in shadow as we ate and talked, her background illuminated by the sun diffusing from a FedEx truck that hovered driverless outside the window for almost the entire meal.

Laurel and I get to have lunch together – nice lunches, that we can savor and eat for the joy of eating, and not just to keep our bodies running – and for both the food and the company we are very lucky.
